After gaining teacher registration in 2005, Eli enjoyed working with English language learners in a number of secondary schools, both in New Zealand and abroad, for over a decade. He taught in Brunei for several years before taking on a literacy coaching role there, in which he supported teachers who possessed a wide range of experience and expertise in reaching their pedagogical goals. He then moved into an ELT management position.
During his time in Brunei, Eli worked with the Ministry of Education to develop national schemes of work, and he assisted in the production of a range of English language learning resources for use in schools nationwide. He also worked on a series of professional learning and development workshops which were delivered to English language teachers in secondary schools across the country.
In his eTeacher role within CORE’s ACCELL programme, Eli is relishing the opportunity to be back working with students, assisting them in acquiring the necessary language skills to access the New Zealand curriculum alongside their age group peers.
I am always looking for opportunities to learn and grow as an educator, and CORE Education is a fantastic organisation in which to do this. I feel very fortunate to be able to live in Nelson and share my passion for the English language, and language learning in general, with students residing all around New Zealand.
I love the outdoors. My family and I like to get out on our mountain bikes or on the water whenever we can.
