Janelle has been involved in organising many formal Māori ceremonies for schools, as well as planning and facilitating Māori consultation hui for community groups, iwi, and whānau.
"I am passionate about Māori Education, and dedicated to improving teaching and learning programmes in order to maximise and improve achievement for all Māori children in all learning contexts. I advocate and support the upskilling and ongoing professional development of schools and teachers to assist them to deliver quality Māori education programmes that improve educational outcomes for all children. I believe teaching and learning programmes can be enhanced with the integration of ICT tools and resources that assist children to regulate their own learning and develop the skills required to be successful 21st Century learners. I am committed to the revitalisation of Te Reo Māori in Aotearoa and protecting our taonga under the Treaty of Waitangi for future generations."
