CORE welcomes Laura Evans to our Research Team. Laura has recently moved to New Zealand from Wales, where she was a lecturer in Media Studies at a community tertiary college. Laura's main tasks will be to manage the various ICTPD and ICTPL end of project surveys, and to help out Michael with his Second Life evaluation project.
Also joining the Christchurch team are Lois Christmas, David Bailey and Nigel Hulls.
Lois brings a wealth of experience of primary education, and has recently completed her research on “What is the experience of the learner in a year 3 & 4 numeracy class?” as the subject of her Graham Nuthall Trust scholarship. Lois has worked for the past four years for the Education Review Office, and has a particular interest in curriculum and assessment practices; and school leadership. Lois will be joining the CORE Achieve team (currently Jill, Matt, Elizabeth, Derek, Ann, Mary-Anne).
David Bailey has joined CORE as our Web Manager on a 12 month contract. David has a background as a freelance graphic designer, editor, and website designer. His first task is to bring our main website back under control and make sure we are presenting the best image we possible can to the world, but as you all know our web presence stretches far and wide so he won't be short of things to do. Look out for changes to our sites in the months to come.
Nigel Hulls joins CORE as our new developer based in Christchurch. He will be taking over Jim Tittsler's existing projects, as well as a long list of new and exciting things. Nigel has a strong background in web development, and has recently been working on one of the world’s fastest growing language learning websites. When not staring at a computer screen he likes to ride up and down mountains (on a bicycle).
Jim Tittsler, our previous developer, has left CORE to work on the development of the Wiki Educator project running out of Otago Polytechnic. This is something that Jim has been involved in for some time and for which he has a great deal of passion. This project focuses on the development of open education resources. CORE is likely to be able to continue our association with Jim through our active interest in open education resources.
There is currently a vacancy for a junior web developer that should be finalised in the near future.
