This seminar will focus on how Hīnātore, Te Papa’s innovative learning lab, supports learners’ development of 21st century competencies of collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, STEAM and personalised learning. Relevant for all school leaders and teachers across New Zealand, the seminar will have a particular focus on how digital technologies can transform learning and will share examples of learner experiences.
This session will explore how Te Papa is partnering with schools, kura, early childhood services and the Ministry of Education to ensure museum learning and access to digital technologies are relevant to all sectors of New Zealand’s education system. It will identify the strategic drivers and philosophy powering the approach; explore how these concepts have informed the physical design, programming and approach to technology; and present outcomes and lessons learnt from the first year of school programmes. It will also showcase how your curriculum can be enhanced with engaging with your local museum or gallery.
