CORE Education's charitable purpose

CORE Education was established in 2003 as a “not-for-profit” company, reflecting the company’s belief in providing public-good services for the educational sector in New Zealand.

As a not-for-profit organisation, CORE Education is not required to distribute any surplus funds to owners or shareholders, but instead, can use them to help pursue its charitable purpose of "advancing education" by:

  • Researching, applying, and disseminating the benefits of new learning technology
  • Developing innovative, creative, and effective e-learning environments
  • Promoting the importance of research
  • Assisting educational institutions and teachers to obtain better classroom resources
  • Assisting educational institutions and teachers to understand technology

During the company's history CORE Education has supported a range of ad hoc charitable projects, including sponsorship of events, pro bono research and support for local initiatives.

In 2009 CORE established a fund, which is allocated a percentage of annual review. This is used to provide:
