How Enterprising (E4E) teaching and learning fits into the NZ Curriculum

The Education for Enterprise approach fits well into the New Zealand Curriculum.

E4E fits the key competencies of the NZ Curriculum

To make it on the world stage our young people need to be enterprising, critical and creative thinkers who are flexible, open-minded and resilient. Enterprising thinking is woven through the vision, principles, values and key competencies of the New Zealand Curriculum.

Students are able to develop these attitudes and skills through an enterprising approach to teaching and learning across the whole curriculum.

CORE Enterprise: about Education for Enterprise

CORE Achieve's Enterprise is a very successful programme for developing an enterprising spirit in our young people.

‘Enterprise’ is all about thinking outside the square and is one of the four future focus issues in the New Zealand curriculum document. Education for Enterprise (E4E) is a vehicle for implementing the curriculum and is a refreshing approach to teaching and learning across all curriculum areas that prepares young New Zealanders to be ‘creative, energetic and enterprising’.

Further E4E resources in New Zealand and overseas

This page provides further reading and information on Education for Enterprise concepts and practice, from both New Zealand and overseas sources.

Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education has a site devoted to Education for Enterprise, giving valuable guidance and case studies for developing an E4E approach in your school, with sections aimed at school leaders, teachers and business and community.

Christchurch Education for Enterprise (E4E) cluster of five secondary schools

CORE Education was contracted to New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) to deliver a two-year Education for Enterprise (E4E) project within a cluster of five Christchurch secondary schools, looking to create opportunities for students to demonstrate enterprising attributes and skills through the utilisation of new technologies in authentic learning environments.
