This will be a gentle step up from beginning your te reo Māori journey, and will build on your ability to speak and use te reo Māori in your classroom or work context. You will engage with other participants and facilitators in online forums and webinars and attend a face-to-face hui.

Prerequisites

Te Reo Puāwai Māori / Previous experience in te reo Māori beyond absolute beginner.

Learning outcomes

Course participants will be able to:

  • extend existing conversational skills
  • find out how to access support via technology for Te Reo Māori
  • learn Te Reo Māori that you can use immediately in school and classroom settings
  • gain learning and teaching strategies to empower themselves and those around them

Who is this for

Any educator wanting to learn and incorporate te reo Māori into your setting.

Course format

This 10 week course is divided into four modules.

2-5 professional learning hours per week online at your own time/own pace, including online facilitation as required.

Each week, complete a task supported by online resources and discussions and contributed to by the facilitators.

Face to face hui dates in 2017:

  • Wellington - 13 March
  • Auckland - 1 May
  • Christchurch - 29 May

Access to the resources will remain open to participants until the end of the year in which the course is undertaken.

Online lesson times will be advised but are typically Monday - Thursday outside of school hours. 

Costs

The cost is $485 per person. A discount of 20% applies for groups of 5+ people from the same school or centre. All prices exclude GST.
