By 2020, schools and kura will need to have taken steps to implement the new Digital Technologies and Hangarau Matihiko curriculum content by 2020. Learners of 2018 are immersed in a digital world, so they need the opportunity to move from digital savvy users, to informed creators of digital outcomes. This course, sponsored by Google, will provide concise and in-depth support for teacher/leaders from years 7 to 10 to address particular challenges and opportunities unique to middle school sector.
This workshop enables participants to explore the new content and consider strategies for implementation at school and communities of learning/kāhui ako level.
Who is this for?
Years 7-10 teachers/leaders tasked with the responsibility for ensuring implementation takes place, participants will be able to consider their present situation with regards to Digital Technologies and develop a plan for implementation.
This course consists of 4 weekly webinars and will provide participants with an understanding of:
- The two new digital areas and their progress outcomes (Computational Thinking and Designing and Developing Digital Outcomes-connections between)
- The wider Technology learning area they are located in
- How the digital learning is underpinned by the Technology learning area, indicators, and strands
- And the wide range of digital supports available to schools
