BookTalks is an easy and fun way of connecting early childhood centres, schools, and other organisations with New Zealand authors and illustrators online

BookTalks connects Schools with authors and illustrators

Schools regularly invite authors and illustrators to speak to students, knowing that the benefits of these authentic connections are highly motivating and inspiring. BookTalks enables this to happen without the costly overheads of time and travel involved in the traditional face-to-face approach. Instead BookTalks uses the free online software Skype.

How the BookTalks website works

Once BookTalks users are registered, they can select from a wide range of New Zealand authors and illustrators. Each author and illustrator has a detailed profile including the times they are available for online meetings to take place.

When an author or illustrator has been selected, an automated email is generated putting both parties in touch with one another. It really is that easy!

What you need to connect with a chosen author or illustrator

Each location will need broadband, a webcam, and Skype software downloaded. For large groups a data projector and screen are also recommended.
