Teanau continues his discussion with Shannon on parenting Pasifika/Māori/European children.

Shannon encourages teachers to learn a simple phrase from all Pasifika cultures to help engage with children. "For our children to participate and engage in their cultures we need to be emerged in them. So when there are birthdays, weddings, lunches, Sunday School activities, cultural community days, deaths of loves ones, cultural days at school i.e. Samoan Independance Day, Matariki – we make sure our kids attend and we go as a family – parents need to be leading by example, when they see Mum & Dad doing fekaus (jobs) they can see what is expected."
