Ann Hatherly
Ann leads the North Island team of Early Years facilitators.
Coming to CORE in 2006 with a wealth of experience in the early childhood education sector, Ann led the ECE ICT Professional Learning contract.
Prior to working at CORE, Ann was senior lecturer at Auckland College of Education and a founding member of the Educational Leadership Project (LTD), specialising mainly in the area of narrative assessment (learning stories). She was also a member of the team involved in the development of Kei Tua o te Pae, Assessment for Learning: Early Childhood Exemplars. Ann has written a number of articles on early childhood assessment and more recently on integrating ICT into teaching and learning.
In the last ten years Ann has seen the power of new technologies make a positive difference in the lives of children, their families, and teachers in the work she has undertaken within ECE settings. While she does not consider herself to be an ICT expert, she is curious and enthusiastic about the new possibilities ICT offers for teaching and learning in the 21st century.
Supporting the development of early childhood pedagogical leadership, enabling teachers to confidently articulate and share their practice among peers.
Ann's goals are to:
- grow cross-sector - early childhood and early primary - professional learning opportunities
- help more early childhood services integrate ICT into everyday practice, so children growing up in the digital age get to learn the possibilities and responsibilities of being a digital/global citizen.
