Gina Cathro
Gina's focus is Education for Enterprise (E4E), an initiative which seeks to foster enterprising qualities in students.
Gina has worked for the last three years as an Education for Enterprise (E4E) in-school facilitator across 18 schools in Canterbury and the West Coast. Her enterprising approach has enabled teachers to think outside the square and bring fresh energy into their classrooms, allowing students more opportunities to demonstrate enterprising qualities, such as resilience, problem solving, creativity and a 'can-do' attitude.
She is currently working part time, having recently returned from parental leave; her main project is the Christchurch Education for Enterprise Cluster.
Gina is also an associate lecturer at Middlesex University in London, working in the area of postgraduate teacher professional development programmes.
Gina came to Core in 2006 from Ultralab in the UK, where she was working as part of a team to develop a wholly online degree based on action research and reflection, with the content negotiated between student and tutor. The project was a huge success and garnered her enthusiasm for delightful and effective online learning. In addition to the online degree project, Gina co-ordinated research outputs at Ultralab and managed the post-graduate programmes in teacher professional development. In a former life, Gina was a secondary English teacher in NZ and the UK.
