Gwenny Davis
Gwenny manages CORE Education's conference needs and is a member of the Events team.
Gwenny’s eye for detail combined with exceptional organisational skills, honed over years on the educational event circuit, make her a perfect match for the job. At CORE, she co-ordinates and manages the many components of conferences/events such as Navcon2k4, ULearn, Learning@School, and He Waka Eke Noa etc.
'I enjoy producing conferences. They have the feel of putting on a theatrical production with an ‘opening night’ and a climactic finale. One can even feel a little flat when it’s all over. Attention to detail is fundamental to the job and the work is a good fit for my personality type.'
Prior to working for CORE, Gwenny was a founding director of Conferences & Events Ltd, based in Nelson. With plenty of event management experience behind her, Gwenny left the organisation in 1998 and began working with CORE director Nick Billowes.
For over 15 years following university, Gwenny was a key player in the nationwide forest conservation organisation Maruia Society, which eventually brought an end to the logging of virtually all native forest on publicly owned land throughout New Zealand. She held both the roles of office manager and president of the organisation.
Gwenny's conservation work has been recognised by both a Queen’s Service Medal and by the United Nations.
