Janelle is a facilitator for CORE Achieve, transitioning into BEL in 2012.
I worked at Aorangi Primary School in Christchurch for 5 years and during that time I established a bilingual unit and became the Senior Teacher of that unit until the school was closed in 2009. I then took a position at Clearview Primary in Rolleston as a Senior Team Leader of Year 7 and 8 where I worked for almost 2 years before taking a position at CORE Education in 2011. I have vast experience in both mainstream and bilingual education settings and have written whole school Te Reo Māori teaching and learning programmes, school Policies and Procedures for bilingual programmes and mainstream schools, the Treaty of Waitangi in education, Ka Hikitia Managing for Success as well as Tikanga Māori in education. I have vast experiences developing resources to support Te Reo Māori programmes in school and have planned and delivered extensive professional development programmes for mainstream teachers. I have been involved in organising many formal Māori ceremonies for schools as well as planning and facilitating Māori consultation hui for community groups, iwi and whānau.
• Te Reo me ōna Tikanga Māori including the Treaty of Waitangi in Education, improving and enhancing Māori achievement, Māori Policies and Procedures for mainstream schools and Bilingual Education programmes.
• ICT Integration into Teaching and Learning Programmes
I am passionate about Māori Education and dedicated to improving teaching and learning programmes in order to maximise and improve achievement for all Māori children in all learning contexts. I advocate for, and support, of the upskilling and ongoing professional development of schools and teachers to assist them to deliver quality Māori Education programmes in order to improve educational outcomes for all children. I believe teaching and learning programmes can be enhanced with the integration of ICT tools and resources assisting children to regulate their own learning and develop the skills and expertise they require to be successful 21st Century learners. I am committed to the revitalisation of Te Reo Māori in Aotearoa and protecting our taonga under the Treaty of Waitangi for future generations.
