Prior to joining CORE Education Josephine was working as a tutor with Peeto & Hagley College. Although it was just part-time it meant she was able to teach computer skills to many new learners. There were new or recently arrived refugees and migrants from many different countries, including folk from Bhutan, Samoa, Afghanistan and Somalia. The programmes ran to meet the needs of the learners which meant Josephine was working at night and during the day. She says it makes a change to have freer evenings!

Josephine is well suited to her role in the research team because she describes herself as fascinated by the workings of Playcentre and any research envolving early childhood learning.

Josephine's husband Michael (also a Researcher at CORE Education) was her souvenir from Britain, where she spent an extended OE teaching and travelling. Josephine and Michael are the proud parents of two growing lads, who they say make them look like dwarves now!
