Professional Profile

Tessa took up her role with CORE Education in January 2006. Her primary teaching experience has spanned inner-city London and New Zealand in both classroom and specialist art teaching. Taking her commitment to art teaching further, Tessa worked on the Ministry of Education Arts Contract as a visual art facilitator. Soon after, she worked as ICT adviser for the University of Waikato.

Tessa believes that professional learning in a knowledge-based age is fundamental in ensuring that students reach their maximum potential to become lifelong learners in the 21st century. This means assisting school leaders in a blended way to develop skills and strategies for implementing effective practice while at the same time, challenging others to reflect and improve on their current teaching practice.

Tessa believes the changes in Web 2.0 have made a profound impact on our learning environments and finally the artist, designer, publisher, collaborator is on a global stage. It also means teaching is a shared practice, schools become deprivatised through social learning networks.
