Greg has been teaching since 1989 and was a primary school principal from 1994-2011. He has taught at all levels of primary school, from Y4-8, usually in multi-level classes.

Greg's full-time classroom teaching has been at Redwood School in Christchurch, and Abbotsford School in Dunedin. "I was born and raised in Christchurch, and have been living in Dunedin since 1990. I am married to a wonderful lady called Jane, who is a speech language therapist and is working hard towards her PhD. We have two teenage children.

Anaru is a facilitator for the Blended e-Learning and CORE Achieve projects. He has experience in the primary and secondary sectors.

Prior to joining CORE Education, Anaru worked firstly at Chisnallwood Intermediate in Christchurch. During his time there, he was head of Physical Education and Te Reo Māori. Anaru was also sports co-ordinator for two years, organising programmes for over 800 students. From 2007 to 2009 Anaru facilitated the Te Kauhua project at Chisnallwood focussing on realising Māori education success.

"My main interests are my whānau, te reo and tikanga Māori and sport, central to all these are relationships.

"I have been fortunate enough to have taught in schools that have enriched my life with their cultures and their beliefs. From my humble beginnings of being a kaiako at the Kohanga Reo through to becoming a Principal teaching my own whānau has been a blessing and an honour. My husband has been my greatest support in my career and I must acknowledge him. My parents, kaumatua and kuia of Ngatirehia have supported me has made me into the person I am today.
