Expressions of Interest are being encouraged from any educators looking for innovations in school design and learning.

This fully escorted tour will travel to the acclaimed International Conference on Thinking (ICOT) on 20–24 June 2011 in Belfast, Ireland. It aims to foster collegial and educational exchanges on the development of thinking. 'Thinking' in this context includes any kind of thinking and learning, and acknowledges cultural, psychological, historical and interdisciplinary diversity and richness.

Rewarding and extending those who teach our nation’s children is a part of the CORE Education culture and charitable endeavor. During 2010 the Core Foundation celebrated by presenting its inaugural Foundation Awards.

The Travel Scholarship of $5,000 was awarded to Neill O’Reilly from Windsor Primary School, Christchurch, enabling him to attend an international educational event of his choosing. Neill will travel to the 15th International Conference on Thinking in Belfast in June 2011.

‘People before profit’ is a well used cliché in business, yet there are few organisations which could rival CORE Education when it comes to living this vision. And with most communication, in this 80 plus employee organisation, happening virtually, its placing as a finalist in the JRA Best Workplaces Survey is even more remarkable.

Keynotes from the United States and the United Kingdom lead the speaker line-up next February at CORE Education's Learning@School conference in Rotorua.

Learning@School organiser Sherry Chrisp expects more than 1000 delegates to attend the annual conference for educators, being held at the Energy Events Centre, 23–25 February.

Joining our Early Years team are:  Julie Dent (Auckland, previously a lecturer in ECE Teacher Education at the University of Auckland); Kea Te Rurehe-Latu (Auckland, previously Head Teacher at Yendarra Kindergarten); and Louise Taylor (Auckland, who worked as a professional development consultant and contractor with the Ministry of Education).

These words have certainly rung true for the CORE Education staff based in the Christchurch area over the past two months after the major earthquake (mag 7.1) rocked Christchurch on Saturday September 4.

CORE Education has been selected as a provider of three new Ministry of Education professional development contracts for early childhood educators.

Covering different regions of New Zealand, the focus in two of the programmes is literacy and numeracy, transitions, leadership, education and care of under twos and developing children’s social competence.

The contracts include targeted in-depth professional development, offered in certain locations where quality early childhood education is considered to bring the greatest potential benefit.

Despite having to reschedule because of the September 4 Canterbury earthquake, 11 leading Singaporean educators still elected to visit Christchurch in late November and early December.

A steady stream of new videos on EDtalks features selected keynotes and spotlights from the ULearn10 conference, along with 20 short interviews with conference speakers and presenters in the ULearn channel.
