Title: RAISING STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT IN LITERACY- a partnership of effective teaching and today's technologies.

Abstract:

Today's technologies offer fabulous opportunities for students to be active and reflective learners engaged with a wide audience who can mentor and support their learning. However, technology alone makes little impact on learning without a sound knowledge of what can be achieved and how to scaffold the learning for students to have success. In this workshop we will explore both requirements for making a difference to student achievement in all areas of literacy. Please come prepared with clear knowledge of your students—bring some writing samples and some reading data so that as well as learning some common strategies, we can get down to relevant goal setting, strategic planning for a group of students, and exploration of the technologies that will impact those students.
