Te Mātaiaho | Refreshed New Zealand Curriculum

We can support implementation of Te Mātaiaho | the refreshed curriculum effectively.

How can Tātai Aho Rau support Te Mātaiaho | the refreshed curriculum?

Putting equity at the heart of your design.

Our kaimahi | facilitators have extensive experience with Te Mātaiaho | the refreshed curriculum and are ready to support any changes to the curriculum*.

We'll work alongside schools and kura, supporting you to implement any of the learning areas in the refreshed curriculum with a cultural lens, connect you with local mana whenua and put an effective strategy in place that puts learners at the centre and ensuring no one misses out on education.

We can support schools to unpack and implement the refreshed curriculum in three ways:

  1. Looking at how Te Tiriti o Waitangi is enacted in your environment.
  2. Providing expertise and knowledge of Mātauranga Māori.
  3. Understand and embed Kaupapa Māori frameworks in your localised setting.

We have kaimahi (facilitators) who can also support you to:

  • Improve te reo Māori competency
  • Grow your understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and New Zealand histories
  • Build and strengthen relationships with whānau, mana whenua and your community
  • Learn about the significance of local landmarks
  • Understand how learners are culturally located
  • Implement systemic cultural change

* Schools could consider applying for professional learning and development (PLD) to implement this kaupapa in your setting. Talk to a PLD Manager about how to apply.

Our recent 'First, equity: futures in education' webinar, recorded earlier in 2023, looks at why the curriculum is being refreshed and why this is important for equity. It also introduced two tools from Future Thinking to use.
