Personal statement

I was born and bred in Porirua in the heart of Cannons Creek. I was fortunate to be part of an era where a strong sense of community was important. I have taken the lessons learnt from those times, along with the values of whanaungatanga from my Wehi Wehi whakapapa and I apply it to the work I do today.

I believe the wellbeing of a community can be measured by the relationships within them between the young and old. I enjoy seeing tamariki Māori excel in education. I particularly love seeing my two grandsons enjoy the best teachers education has to
offer.
